The QSCA held a Driver Training Day at Gympie’s Mothar Mountain Speedway Club House on Saturday 5th December, 2009.  Almost 50 people attended this informative day.  Attendees ranged from 10 years of age Juniors just starting their speedway experience through to Grand Parents.

On the day everyone had an enthusiasm to learn more and certainly were not disappointed.  Topics covered in this day ranged through all areas of speedway.  Some topics covered were car presentation, how to approach on track challenges, understanding rules, communication between drivers and officials, code of conduct, how to use the microphone to improve your chances of sponsorship, risk management and fire safety.  Persons attending were provided with a 56 page take home book  which will provide them with a resource tool to refer back to in the future.

Senior drivers Gary Pagel, Russell Cowley and Allen Nottage were on hand to support the day and share their speedway knowledge with the attendees.  Refreshments and the Sausage Sizzle lunch cooked by Adrian Stott, Paul O’Neill and Jeff Peacock rounded out an enjoyable day for all.

Attendance certificates, drink holders and christmas lollies were handed out at the completion of the days activitites.
