Results of More Safety Audits

There were Pit Area Safety Audits completed at Gympie on 29th December 2009 and at Maryborough on 1st January 2010.  The result of these audits are as below:

Gympie –
Sample  of Race Gear checked = 100%
Covered Footwear Compliance = 100%
Axle/Jack Stands available for use = 100%
Compliant Fire Extinguishers = 90% (Junior Sedans, Mod Prod & Street Sedans)
Compliant Fire Extinguishers = 21% (Super Sedans)

Maryborough –
Sample of Race Gear checked = 99%
Covered Footwear Compliance = 100%
Axle/Jack Stands available for use =86%
Compliant Fire Extinguishers = 52%

Competitors are reminded of the need to have a compliant Fire Extinguisher that suits the fuel your race car uses.
Cars using Unleaded Pump Fuel require a minimum of 2.5kg Dry Chemical Powder Extinguisher.
Cars using other types of racing fuels, eg Methanol require a minimum of a 9ltr Water or Foam Extinguisher.

Axle/Jack Stands are also a requirement as per the Pit Rules found in the back of the Australian Speedway Racing Rules and Regulations, August 2009.
