Terese Lange 04/05/2008
Night 2 and the pits are starting to fill and come alive, rechecks for the super sedans and scrutineering for the support classes are under way.
For the first time since the QSCA invested in transponders the whole race meeting is being lapscored using electronic technology. The QSCA officials operating the equipment are to be congratulated in undertaking this huge task.
Confirmed scratchings are: G97 Gary Pagel, during practice Gary was experiencing some problems, yesterday the team thought they had it under control however today it would seem not. G7 Geoff Bingham – unable to repair. B2 Steve Pearce unable to repair.
This will leave 21 cars to take up the challenge, with the top 16 pointscorers to automatically qualify directly to the A Main.
Drivers briefing just finished with a transponder check scheduled for 4.45pm

All cars will start the A MAIN – Where we have drivers on equal points, we use the transponder timing to give the fastest lap time, that driver then takes precedence in the starting postions.
7.45PM Estimated we are about 15/20 minutes off driver intro for the Super Sedans prior to the A MAIN.
Gympie Saloon Car Club have played host to a huge crowd, almost standing room only around the track. Gympie’s Mothar Mountain is famous for the unique layout for a speedway track, it has what is commonly referred to as ‘a dogleg’ on turn 4 although the club have done some work and it doesnt appear to be as harsh as I can recall it some years ago. Drivers tend to love it or hate it!!!………… most I have spoken to this weekend love it because it is different and challenging and not your normal roundy roundy track
A MAIN on the dummy grid – Wes will do a driver intro prior to the race start
Drivers out of cars Wes doing driver intros. Wes making comment that Lyndsay Hawkings is on the track to assist buckle Darren back into his car, making reference to the last time the Hawkings family raced at the Mountain they finished 1 & 2 respectively with Lyndsay the victor.
