New Award for National Super Sedan Series

14/11/07…NASR/ASCF Media Release

The 2007/2008 National Super Sedan Series is shaping as the toughest ever, with a compacted schedule offering little respite for drivers and crews as they journey from Queensland to South Australia, contesting eights nights of racing in just 24 days.  The logistics of such a tour are staggering and, with the strongest field ever assembled, success will very much be determined by equal parts skill, preparation and good fortune.  After all, the very best preparation is often no protection from the misfortunes that can befall even the most experienced drivers at any given moment.

In the high octane world of Super Sedan competition, things don’t always go to plan and sometimes a night that starts well enough can end disastrously.  In such circumstances, a substantial payday can very quickly turn to heartache and despair.  We have all seen those times when a driver enjoying a seemingly unassailable lead becomes an innocent victim of somebody else’s mess.  In an effort to provide some solace to those competitors struck by such misfortunes, a new contingency award has been introduced this season that will provide some compensation in such circumstances.

At every NSSS round, the winner of the Tassiesupersedan.com Hard Luck Award will pick up $100 cash courtesy of Tassiesupersedan.com.  Race officials will determine which driver is the recipient of the award, an honour that drivers will probably be happy to avoid. However, whilst winning this award may well mean that things have gone horribly wrong for the recipient, the $100 prize will no doubt be a welcome gesture during what would otherwise be a moment of great despondency.   “Too often a driver will go out and impress all night, and then have something go wrong so close to home, and they walk away empty handed, well not any more”, stated Tassiesupersedan.com owner/manager Aaron Wells when announcing the award.

As a passionate supporter of Super Sedan racing, Wells is very keen to see the NSSS enjoy continued growth and he realises the importance of providing incentives to competitors. “It’s obvious the NSSS is the best thing to happen to Super Sedans in a long, long time, so I couldn’t think of a better way to help keep it growing than throwing some support behind it.”

The support of Tassiesupersedan.com is a welcome bonus for NSSS competitors and the series organisers extend their thanks to Aaron Wells for his support of the series.  Tassiesupersedan.com is a website dedicated to providing all of the latest news, results, images and information from the Tasmanian Super Sedan scene.  However, with two Tasmanian drivers contesting the full NSSS schedule this season, tassiesupersedan.com will also carry extensive coverage of the national competition.
