Cairns Speedway was in action last Saturday night with Super Sedans, Modified Productions, 4 Cylinder Sedans and Junior 4 Cylinder Sedans. The Super Sedans had 7 cars racing.  Gary Pagel driving the Miles owned car was the best on the night with Miles finishing close behind Pagel.

The Modifed Productions put on another great show with Johnno Collins being the top driver for the night. First heat starting from the rear in an 8 car heat , Johnno managed to weave his magic and finish first with Max Bennetts behind him and a hard charging Tony Anderson in 3rd. This is how the other 2 heats finished as well.

There was a big accident in the last corner of the 3rd heat, Ray Marshall had a tyre deflate causing Marshall to spin around to face the oncoming traffic with Troy Gerchow colliding heavily into the front of Marshall.  Unfortunately, both cars were damaged beyond easy repair for the final,  thus they were on the trailer for the final.  The final saw Johnno out of pole, beside him Max Bennetts and Tony Anderson in 3. Bennetts,  still with his arm in pain from surgery months ago, put on a big effort on the outside of Johnno for a couple of laps before conceding defeat to finish a strong 2nd position and Tony Anderson finishing in 3rd position,  Dave Manly in a very strong 4th position, and Graham Kleinhans in 5th, Shane Mitchell dropped out with a badly miss firing V6 Commodore. Mitchell’s engine problem had plagued him all night.
