Huge Night Of Action at Mothar Mountain Speedway

Yet another night of fantastic action was on display last Saturday night at Mothar Mountain, and yet again this unique track showed that she was a force to be reckoned with. Panels and wheels all making some horrendously hard contact with the walls and yet another rollover in the Modified Production heats.
The left hand drive American based Late Model V8’s were out in force unleashing hundreds of horsepower on the dirt which proved to be a unique spectacle for all, hoping to see them back in numbers in the near future.
The Sunshine Coast based Four Cylinder Sedans yet again showed how adaptable they were to this undulating track and put on a great display of clean, fast racing.
Like bee’s to a honey pot, the Performax International ASCF Juniors were out to prove that the level of talent in the younger ranks will be a force to be reckoned with in the not too distant future, local driver Brendan Learoyd finishing a close second to Northern Territory Number One, Cody Maroske in the A Main.
Junior Street Sedans were also out to prove a point in the first round of heats on a slippery track to start the program, showing some unique driving styles until the track came good with traction and then it was on for young and old throughout the heats setting the scene for an exciting 20 lap final which saw Caboolture driver Jayden Peacock winning the 20 lap A Main.
The Street sedans had a clean run throughout the heats and a full field was on the start line for the 20 lap feature event, which saw Neil Keldoulis, after a heat win and a second putting him on pole for the A Main and leading all the way fending off many challengers throughout the race to claim victory with nearest local Doug Rigby finishing fourth.
The Advanced Metal Turning Super Street Sedan series kicked off with a bang, which literally saw main man Joel Thomas out with plaguing problems and not on the grid for the A Main. Heats for the Super Streets proved costly with cars out and Steve Cook lining up on pole in his EL Falcon then went on to lead all the way and claiming the highest points for the first round of the AMT Series. Local driver Allen Nottage making his mark on the series and finishing a close second and Troy Sismey in third.
Modified Productions were in usual fine form with fast and furious heats, Jason Marshall in his Caboolture based AU Falcon with a spectacular rollover on the start line of the final heat race and starting he race on his roof, tended to straight away by volunteer fire-fighters and St John medics, it was decided to call the ambulance and send him to hospital for suspected spinal injuries, at the moment he is under observation and yet to find out the extent of damage until swelling reduces, we wish him all the best for a speedy recovery. Gympie was well represented in the heats with Brett Baxter and Gavin Lorensen on the front row for the start of the A Main, and leading all the way for a Gympie one/two finish.
All in all a fantastic race night, now to look forward to the big 50 lap Street Sedan Showdown on the 7th November brought to you by K&N Auto Parts Gympie
