Notes from Super Street Drivers Meeting   held 6-04-08
It was voted unanimously by the 20 attendees at the Super Street Drivers meeting held on the Sunshine Coast today that an association be formed to aid in the growth and management of the category.  Another meeting to discuss the same issues will be held in Rockhampton on the weekend of the State Title later this month to give the Northern drivers a chance to voice their opinion and vote on the proposed association formation.

The goals of the new association will be to increase numbers of cars and investigate and implement methods of improving public appeal of Super Street. The following points were discussed at length and voted and agreed by those present.
• Form an Association named “Super Street Drivers Association QLD Inc” and elect a management group consisting of President Trevor Brown, Secretary / Treasurer Melanie Brown, Race Liaison Officers, Graham Humphreys and Rick Cunning. One position was left open for a northern delegate to be elected, and others will be elected as required.

Some items discussed were:
• Drivers will race for points only at delegated race meetings (yet to be decided) with the winner over these race meetings getting a major $ prize with prizes paid back to 10th position, based on total points score. Extra points will be allocated for hard charger, best presented car, Drivers driver as decided on the night as a best and fairest.
• Major Sponsors will be ADVANCED METAL TURNING of Yandina, other sponsors will be required and those that have previously offered will be contacted.
• All drivers will be paid the same turn up to race payment, which will be paid by the association from the prize money pool offered by sponsors, clubs and promoters.  An example will be travel from Gympie to Rockhampton $120 and the same for drivers to come from Rockhampton to Gympie.
• All promoters and clubs will be approached to arrange the race meetings through the Association, this means drivers will nominate to the association and the draw provided to the promoting club/track.
• A $50 refundable bond is to be paid on nomination and will be held by the association to ensure all nominated cars turn up. Nominations can be withdrawn to save bond but officials must be notified before race day.
• A $20 membership fee applies to all people wishing to be members in 2008. Majority of persons present paid membership for the 2008 season to enable the Association to become Incorporated.  2008/2009 membership fees will be decided at the next meeting.
• Discount cards for automotive parts from CARBITZ (Nambour, Maroochydore & Beerwah) will be made available to members.
• Association will not promote rule changes except those concerning safety (tyres will remain as race tyres, as per QSCA rules).
• Drivers must remain members of their respective clubs and QSCA.
• Driving standards to be monitored and penalties for breaches will be vigorously applied.
• Drivers representative to be elected on race nights to liaise with officials on all matters concerning Super Street i.e. on track complaints about penalties required or issued.
• All cars to carry Super Street Association and Sponsor Livery.
