SSA Re-Structure National Title Format

Speedway Sedans Australia have released a new National Title Format in what will allow for a number of further opportunities for a greater number of competitors who choose to compete at any of the SSA National Titles.

The format restructure has been brought about by Titles having markedly different numbers dependant on State and location, along with the incredible numbers of entries across all classes and in particular Street Stock and Modified Sedans, along with the amount of competitors who miss out on making a final on night two and only compete once in their fourth and final heat.

The restructure has also taken into account the venues and the entire title as a package, with twelve cars per heat and twelve lap heats reduced to ten, whilst there is no change to the Junior Sedan heat format, with a greater inclusion of Finals. A format that will still ensure a terrific show is presented that certainly adds benefits for venues, spectators and most importantly competitors.

In all cases the top sixteen automatically qualify, with larger fields in finals to a maximum of 22 and with the provision to allow for the defending National Champion to make it a 23 car field should he or she not qualify automatically into the A Main/Final. As a result, in almost every case competitors will now get a minimum of two races on the second night.

The title format will not be known in its entirety until the close of nominations for each event, until the total number of competitors is known, but would be subject as below into four categories dependant on the final numbers.

40 CAR FIELD OR LESS

Top 16 qualify directly to A MAIN.

Remainder to B Main, with 6 to transfer from B Main to positions 17 through to 22 for A MAIN ( maximum 22 car field for B Main, subject to numbers)

41-60 CAR FIELD

Top 16 to qualify directly to A MAIN.

2 x B mains (odds and evens positions 17 to 60) with THREE to transfer from either B Main to A MAIN (B mains odds top three to positions 17, 19, 21 and B Main evens top 3 to positions 18, 20, 22 of the A Main).

*Increase of 10 cars into any of the finals, with no C Main. Whilst closing the gap to the front of the field by adding an extra B Main and every competitor has every opportunity of making the Final/A Main.

61-80 CAR FIELD

Top 16 qualify directly to A MAIN.

2 x B mains (odds and evens positions 17 to 58 plus 2 from C Main) THREE to transfer from either B Main to Final (B mains odds top three to positions 17, 19, 21 and B Main evens top 3 to positions 18, 20, 22 for A Main/Final).

1 x C Main (positions 58 to 80) TWO transfer from C Main to B Mains. (1st place to back of odd B Main position 22, and 2nd place to back of evens to evens B Main position, 22 respectively)

*Every car subject to remaining numbers gets to run a final and every opportunity of making it to the Final/A Main!

81-100+ CAR FIELD

Top 16 qualify directly to A MAIN

2 x B mains (odds and evens positions 17 to 56 plus 4 from C Main (2+2).) THREE to transfer from either B Main to A Main/Final (B mains odds top three to positions 17, 19, 21 and B Main evens top 3 to positions 18, 20, 22 for A Main/Final).

2 x C Mains (odds and evens positions 55 to 99) TWO to transfer from each C Mains to B Main. (Odds to odds B Main positions 21 and 22 evens to evens B Main positions 21 and 22 respectively)
A MAIN: 22 car field allowing for National Champ in 23rd position for Final.

*Subject to numbers, in addition 49 more cars are now eligible and have opportunity of making it to the Final/A Main

Laps and Finals
Senior
Final (A Main): 40 Laps
B Main (all): 20 Laps
C Main (all): Number of Cars plus one lap up to a maximum of 20 Laps.

Juniors
Final (A Main): 25 Laps
B Main (all): 20 Laps
C Main (all): Number of Cars plus one lap, to a maximum of 20 Laps.

The new format will first be implemented at the Make Smoking History Collie Speedway, for the Speedway Sedans Australia, National Junior Sedan Title in January 2020.

In other exciting news relating to National Titles, to give venues and competitors even more time to plan for National Titles, Speedway Sedans Australia will soon be calling for submissions for Titles not only in 2021, but also 2022 to allow competitors and venues to foresee dates and events insight of their respective schedules.
