Speedway Australia Licence Coverage

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN – ‘Without Prejudice”
It has come to our attention that there is confusion in some areas as to what speedway event requirements are to be in place.
Your Speedway Sedans Australia registered race car needs to adhere to the following statement –
“SSA Inc. registered vehicles must only compete with SSA Inc. registered vehicles and registered in the same class with drivers who hold an SSA Inc. / Speedway Australia licence and SSA Inc. approved insurance for the appropriate class.”
To drive said car you are required to hold a Speedway Australia licence noted “SSA Inc” plus the specific relevant class. This Speedway Australia licence is inclusive of ‘complimentary’ personal accident insurance.
“Insured Persons: All National and State Executives, committee members, employees and consultants of the insured, drivers, mechanics, officials, visitors and overseas drivers declared to the Insured who are license holders of Speedway Australia.”
“Time of Operation of Cover: 1. Whilst attending for the purpose of engaging in Competition (including practices) where Speedway Australia have issued a valid Permit.
2. Whilst attending Official Functions organised by, recognised by or under the direct control of Speedway Australia and/or any of its affiliates.
3.Cover extends to insured persons who hold annual licences only, for necessary and direct travel to and from such Competition Event or Practice, Official Function including Journey to and from such events; during the policy period.”
What does this mean for you – the speedway event you compete in needs to be the holder of a Speedway Australia race/practice permit – this then validates your licence and car registration. If the unfortunate happens and you need to make a claim on your personal accident insurance, you will be able to lodge a claim to Speedway Australia for compensation.
If you wish to compete or officiate at a non-Speedway Australia sanctioned/permitted event you do so at your own risk.
