NSSS Double Header Confirmed for Queensland

One of the fundamental elements to the success of the National Super Sedan Series has been the willingness of host tracks to step outside their traditional Saturday night scheduling and work collaboratively with other venues in the interests of minimising the burden of travel for participating competitors. Therefore, series organisers are very pleased to announce that Mothar Mountain Speedway and Kingaroy Speedway will host rounds two and three of the 2012/2013 National Super Sedan Series on December 14 and 15 respectively.

The two events will be staged on the weekend immediately following the opening round of competition at Toowoomba’s Charlton Raceway, continuing the traditional three-round tournament that will again comprise the QSCA Queensland Cup.  The earlier start to the championship is expected to prove popular with competitors and a bumper field seems certain to descend on Queensland for four fabulous nights of racing.

The willingness of the Gympie Saloon Car Club to stage a Friday night fixture and thereby enable Kingaroy to host a series round for the first time on Saturday evening is a magnanimous gesture that ensures maximum return for competitors taking part in the opening week of competition. Last season, Gympie staged a Thursday night fixture on December 29 and were rewarded with a packed house, and are no doubt hoping that a Friday night staging this season will lure even more people to the unique hillside circuit. Gympie Saloon Car Club President Allan Jennings is excited about the event, stating that “last year the NSSS event attracted our biggest crowd of the season, so a Friday night round this year will hopefully bring even more people to watch Australia’s best drivers in action”.

The South Burnett Speedway Club, promoters of Kingaroy Speedway, is delighted at the opportunity to stage an event of this stature given the rocky road the club has traversed in recent seasons. According to club President Ashley Barron, “to be associated with the National Series is great for Kingaroy.  The feedback from the drivers who visited the circuit last year has been positive and we can’t wait”.  “To come back from the brink only two years ago to be running a round of the National Series, we are over the moon.  We are getting more support from spectators and local businesses, so to get cars from all over Australia is great for Kingaroy”, he added.

In joining the series, Kingaroy Speedway becomes the 21st different venue to host a NSSS series round since the championship began in 2006 and NSSS Manager Tony Parkinson is very pleased with the level of support from Queensland once again. “Working with Gympie and Kingaroy has been a pleasure and we are excited to have Kingaroy join the series.  We strive to minimise the travelling costs for the teams throughout the series.  To have Gympie and Kingaroy working together will provide joint promotion benefits and the teams benefit because they will now be travelling to Queensland for four nights of racing over two weekends.  Of course, we also welcome the continued support of the QSCA with the Queensland Cup.”

The opening round of the 2012/2013 National Super Sedan Series will be a two-night event at Toowoomba’s Charlton Raceway on December 7 and 8. The remainder of the 2012/2013 championship schedule is close to finalisation and further dates will be released as soon as they are confirmed, so stay tuned to www.nationalsupersedanseries.com for more information.
