Jordan Jumps Aboard NSSS

13/10/07…NASR/ASCF Media Release

The Modified Production division has long been regarded as a fertile breeding ground for the next generation of Super Sedan drivers and last season saw an emphatic demonstration of this with Steve Jordan’s rapid ascent into a bona fide V8 star.  The Brisbane-based excitement machine was a revelation in his first full season of Super Sedan competition upstaging and outpacing some of the biggest names in the game as the season progressed.

Having made a tentative foray into the Super Sedan ranks the previous season, Jordan stepped up to a new level on 2006/2007, taking on the National Super Sedan Series aboard the first ever Sweet chassis to roll off the production line and the combination made an instant impression.  Despite a field of more than 40 cars, Jordan scored a very solid 7th-place finish in the opening round of the NSSS in Rockhampton.  However, it was just two nights later at Brisbane International Speedway when Jordan firmly cemented his place in the big league, storming to victory in round two against the very best in the business.

Incredibly, Jordan would secure three more top-five results in the series, including a third-place finish in the final round at Murray Bridge, to finish fifth overall in the championship.  Buoyed by his success in the NSSS, Jordan ventured to Tasmania to contest the Apple Isle Grand Prix – Australia’s richest race – for the first time. Once again refusing to be overwhelmed by the occasion or his lack of Super Sedan experience, Jordan outgunned his more illustrious rivals to take out the event, albeit after a protracted series of appeals.

Of course, for anybody remotely aware of Jordan’s achievements in Modified Production competition, such rapid success in the Super Sedan ranks would seem both logical and inevitable.  For many years, Jordan was a prolific Modified Production feature race winner and a crowd favourite. He snared his first state title in the 2001/2002 Queensland Championship and then won both the New South Wales Championship and the Victorian Championship the following season during a stellar run of success that ultimately proved the catalyst for his progression into Super Sedans.

With a history of success in Modified Production competition and having proven himself a genuine championship contender on his first year of national service, Speedway Sedans Australia (ASCF) and the National Association of Speedway Racing (NASR) are very pleased to confirm Steve Jordan as a contracted driver in the 2007/2008 National Super Sedan Series.  Other drivers confirmed for the 2007/2008 series include Wayne Randall, Michael Gee, Brad Smith, Dave Gartner, Paddy Ward, Jamie McHugh and Darren Kane, with further announcements still to come.
