Gee Takes Three In a Row
Gee Takes Three in a Row…12/03/07…NASR/ASCF Media Release
Australian Super Sedan champion Michael Gee was unstoppable at Murray Bridge Speedway tonight, scorching to his third consecutive win in as many nights to take out the final round of the 2006/2007 National Super Sedan Series. Gee became the only driver to win three NSSS features in a season and also clinched the inaugural Speedway Racing News Triple Crown.
Gee again started his Weatherall Prestige Autobody Taurus on the front row – from position two alongside Brad Smith on this occasion – and led throughout another exciting 30-lap feature event to cap what has been a remarkable couple of months for the Brisbane-based team.
However, it was fellow Queenslander Wayne Randall who once again emerged as the series champion, successfully defending the title he won last year during the inaugural season of NSSS action. Randall has been sensational throughout the series and finished the championship in style with a runner-up result, improving on his third-place finish from the previous evening to clinch the title.
Steve Jordan continued his stellar season with a third-place finish tonight ahead of the luckless Smith, who has been a magnificent supporter of the series since its inception. Although a podium result would have been a fitting reward for his efforts, a fourth-place result is in stark contrast to the wretched luck he has endured throughout the series this season.
Wayne Brims finished the feature event in fifth spot, followed by Lucas Roberts, Darren Kane and Dave Gartner. Although a flat tyre forced him to the infield late in the race, John Leslight finished third overall in the championship ahead of Kane and Jordan.
