G & W Racing Modified Production Round 3

30/11/07…Tanya Barron

Round 3 of the G & W Racing Modified Production was held last weekend in Lismore.  Aussie Champ Todd Doyle claimed victory after qualifying his Tracwell Motor Body Builders Commodore off the front row.  He led all thirty laps to increase his lead in the series.

Steve Price applied some pressure to Doyle early on but Greg Worling ensured a battle with Price for the majority of the race.  The two cars diced with each other through lapped traffic.  With a few laps to go Worling dropped back to 10th place after breaking an axle.

Steve Price was first runner up.  Aiden Raymont made it out for the feature race & crossed for third after a complete diff change in between heats.  The ever present Garry Maroske in his RX7 claimed fourth position with Col Hockley crossing the line in fifth after starting out of tenth.

Jason Campbell had one of his best nights coming home in 6th spot with Royce Ernst grabbing 7th place followed by Travis Barron, David Jacobi, Greg Worling Troy Barnes & Mark Ferguson.

Many cars had mechanical problems throughout the feature race which forced them to early retirement these included Greg Raymont, Jason Jolley, Matt Swarbrooke and Gavin Fletcher.

The heat races saw plenty of action with some tough stewarding.  Gavin Fletcher made his way to the lead in heat one but was black flagged.  Todd Doyle made it to the lead but he was put to the rear for a racing incident.  Doyle managed to get back to second place behind Aiden Raymont.

Shane MacDonald had a flying start for heat two with him eventually taking the win.  Steve Price had two heat wins which gave him a great starting position for the feature event.  Shane MacDonald wasn’t so lucky in heat six with a frightening encounter with the wall.  Heat seven saw Greg Raymont take the win from Travis Barron after Todd Doyle was relegated to third place.  The tough stewarding continued for Mark Raymont as he made his way past Garry Maroske but was put back to second for the pass he made.  Col Hockley proved too strong in the final heat taking the chequered flag from Quinton Clarke & Royce Ernst.
